> Control Parklio parking hardware, share access and read occupancy through the Parklio API.

Parklio makes parking hardware (barriers, gates, chains, bollards, LPR cameras) that you
can control and monitor from your own software. The Parklio API lets you open and close
products remotely, share access, recognize license plates, and read live occupancy.

## What do you want to build?

  Open and close from your backendRemote control through a Gateway, with realtime confirmation.
  Your own mobile appOperate products over Bluetooth with the Parklio SDK and operation tokens.
  Plate-based accessLet whitelisted vehicles in when an LPR camera reads their plate.
  Live occupancyRead lot, zone and parking-place occupancy as it changes.
  No codeOpen and close products from Zapier.

- **[Open and close from your backend](/get-started/quickstart):** remote control
  through a Gateway, with realtime confirmation.
- **[Your own mobile app](/sdk):** operate products over Bluetooth with the Parklio SDK
  and operation tokens.
- **[Plate-based access](/concepts/access-and-keys):** let whitelisted vehicles in when
  an LPR camera reads their plate.
- **[Live occupancy](/get-started/how-parklio-works#occupancy):** read lot, zone and
  parking-place occupancy as it changes.
- **[No code](/integrations/zapier):** open and close products from Zapier.

Not sure which fits? See [Choose your path](/get-started/choose-your-path).

Before you start
Parklio has no sandbox: you integrate against real hardware. You need:

- an **API account**, provisioned by Parklio;
- an **API subscription** for each product you control;
- the **hardware**, paired with your account in the Parklio Connect app;
- a **Gateway** on the same lot, for remote control.

See [What you need](/get-started/what-you-need).

## Your first call

```bash title="List your products"
curl https://api.parklio.com/v2/products \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PARKLIO_API_TOKEN"
```

New here? Read [How Parklio works](/get-started/how-parklio-works), then follow the
[Quickstart](/get-started/quickstart) from an API token to a confirmed open.
