# Glossary

> These docs use the API's names for things. Other Parklio material (the website, the
> Knowledge Base, the apps) sometimes uses different words for the same thing; the
> **also called** column lists them.

| Term | Also called | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Account** | | Your organization in Parklio. Owns lots, products, Gateways, users and API tokens. See [Data model](/concepts/data-model). |
| **Account user** | user | A person who logs in to an account, with a role: Super Admin, Admin or Operator. |
| **API token** | API key | A long-lived bearer token for server-to-server calls. Created by a Super Admin. See [Authentication](/api/authentication). |
| **Connect app** | "Parklio" (its name in the app stores) | Parklio's mobile app. Pairs products and Gateways with an account, and operates products over Bluetooth. |
| **`event_id`** | | The id of an asynchronous operation, returned when you send a command and repeated on the realtime event that reports its result. See [Asynchronous operations](/concepts/asynchronous-operations). |
| **Gateway** | | An on-site box that relays commands and status between the Parklio cloud and nearby products over Bluetooth. Needed for remote control. |
| **Key invitation** | pending access, invitation | Access sent to an email address that has no Parklio account yet. Becomes an operation key when the person signs up. See [Access and keys](/concepts/access-and-keys). |
| **License-plate binding** | bound licenses | A link between a whitelisted license plate and a product, so a plate read can open it. |
| **Lot** | parking lot, site | A parking location. Holds zones, products and Gateways. |
| **Lot whitelist** | allowlist, ANPR access | The license plates allowed on a lot, each with a time window or unlimited. |
| **LPR camera** | ANPR camera | A license-plate recognition camera. |
| **Master key** | | The secret a product shares with Parklio, set when the product is paired with the Connect app. Every access credential for the product depends on it. You never handle it directly. |
| **Operation key** | digital key, virtual key, shared key, guest key | Access to a product shared with a Parklio Connect user, used from the Connect app. |
| **Operation token** | | A time-limited, signed set of commands (open, close, status) for one product, minted by your backend for your own app built with the Parklio SDK. |
| **Parking detection** | Detect, occupancy detection | Camera-based tracking of which parking places are free or occupied. |
| **PMS** | Parking Management System, "CMS" | Parklio's web app for managing lots, products and access. |
| **Product** | device | A piece of Parklio hardware you control: a barrier, gate, chain, bollard or brain. See [Products and operations](/concepts/products-and-operations). |
| **QR code** | | An open-only access credential in an image. See [Access and keys](/concepts/access-and-keys). |
| **Session** | | One vehicle's stay in a zone, from entry to exit, used for parking payments. |
| **Tariff** | | Pricing for a zone: price per interval, free time, maximums. |
| **Terminal** | Payment Machine, POF, pay-on-foot | An entry, exit or payment machine in a lot. |
| **Weblink** | | A link, emailed by Parklio, that lets someone operate a product from a browser for a limited time. See [Access and keys](/concepts/access-and-keys). |
| **Zone** | | A part of a lot, for example a level or a pricing area. |
